iPad Pro keeps asking for passcode

Ipad Pro while in sleep mode will intermittently show enter passcode on the screen.

Any idea how to fix this.

Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

If this does not help, restore your device to factory settings. Note that this will erase the data from your device.

Take a look this Apple Support article: Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

As a final step, try the recovery mode. Turn your device off, then plug it to your computer with the home button pressed. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo on the screen of your device. After that on your computer you should see the iTunes window saying your device needs to be restored to factory settings. Click on the restore button.

If these steps don't work, contact Apple and ask for help.

This looks like it may work for my sister too however I am on the west coast and she is on the east coast, what do you do recommend if she doesn't know what her iPad mini Apple ID password is?

The young office worker who helped her set up the iPad mini OS when I sent she the mini as a gift last year is gone and the iPad never asked for a password before. Recently, one day the iPad required a password to log on and she tried her email password, and every password she could Think of she had use in the past at work and of course it locked up on her. She is terrified that she will lose the pictures of her new born first granddaughter if the only solution is to wipe it a reload the OS in accordance with the instruction with the web page here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled

Follow these steps if you've forgotten your passcode, or if a message says that your device is disabled. If you enter the wrong passcode in to an iOS device six times in a row, you'll be locked out and a message will say that your device is disabled.

Pick a way to erase your device…etc…

I am hoping there is you are willing to send me written step by step

Instructions, which I can use to talk my brother through an attempted fix reset her Apple ID problem. He is not very computer savvy but he has an older MAC book PRO is a Master Electrician and he also has taught me a lot about use of my iPhone. I can get him to our sister get her Apple ID reset. Can you help me please? I got her the iPad so we could face time because she doesn’t have an iPhone. For 50 years I’ve always lived so far away from my all my family and this is the only way I can afford to see them a lot. I’d be grate for any tech savvy help.

Thank you

Pat

Pat, I was referring to an issue w the new iPad Pro

but as far as I know, the link u provided is indeed the correct way to recover a password on a device...then restore the device from either iTunes or iCloud back-up....hopefully she did a regular back-up.

in this regard...the instructions provided by d.cohen would b accurate....but not for the iPad Pro issue

hope this helps you some

HI again.....she would have had to create an Apple ID and iTunes account to get any apps, those can be downloaded again but any other data will be lost. I guess to directly answer your question....yes, wipe the device as described in the apple link, then select "set up as new device" when u come to that screen. The new ios will b available in setting, general, software update, then login into the iTunes account and u should be able to recover any purchased apps....if she has ever plugged it into the Mac there should b a back-up.....if not, she will have a restored to factory settings device and can set a new password.

AGain I hope this helps some....there are other forums which could answer your question better....I have had 3 iPads, so the info I have given is based on my experience w them..I am not employed by Apple so others may b able to give more in depth help than me.....best of luck but let me know how she makes out 🙂
