Wilson's Life on Earth repeatedly fails to download

Hello,

I am trying unsuccessfully to download the series of ebook "Life on Earth", but I always get the message "Failed to Download". Sometimes one of the book seems to have reached 100% downloaded size, but just after that it says something like "3 seconds left" and the download aborts with the above message. I tried deleting the books themselves, the whole ibooks folder, rebooting, and even the complex procedure described in Re: ibooks error: "Zero Kb of 9.22 EB" on Yosemite and failed downloads (the last part of the post is a bit confusing --- I can't see any "number of the sub-folder holding the book" in the manifest.plist file --- so I may not have followed the instructions properly).

It seems to me that this is a GLARING bug in the software, I can't understand how it has not been fixed nor has received proper attention by the Apple technical support.
