Q: ASUS ML229 not recognized by MacBook Pro Yosemite 10.10.5

I have tried all the solutions in that document, no results.

When I connect the display, the screen flashes and the option in the sys prefs goes from default to scaled, but nothing shows up on the external monitor.

The setup works with my Windows PC.

I’ve reset PRAM twice now, no luck. Safe Mode doesn’t help either.

- I’ve changed the DisplayPort Adapter, no change.

- I tried 3 different HDMI cables, no change.

- I connected a Windows PC to the monitor via HDMI, and it worked, so I know it’s not the monitor.

I still have this problem. I’ve tried all the things suggested on this thread. I’ve tried different configurations involving different wires, displays, and laptops.

The conclusion that I’ve reached is that it’s a software issue on my laptop.

Any help on how I can figure that out?

FWIW - I tried connecting in via Guest account to see if it was a third-party software, but no luck. Not sure if that’s the best way to go about it though.

Updating to 10.11.3 didn’t solve the problem either. Any help from someone? I really need the extra screen estate to be able to do my job properly.

Is there a way for me to figure out which application is causing this?
