Q: Apple ID for Children Using Shuffle

I will be purchasing my daughter an ipod shuffle.  Can I still create an Apple ID and use Family Share for the music that she wants to purchase?

Yes.  But I'm not sure what you mean by "still."  Buying an iPod shuffle for her does not affect usage of Family Share.

Thank you Kenichi for the reply.  I thought I needed to create an id for her and use Family Share so that she could have her own itunes account and I would be able to use Family Share to athorize or unauthorize the purchase of certain music.  It sounds like from your response I would not need Family Share.

An "iTunes account" (what someone uses to buy and download stuff from the iTunes Store) is an Apple ID.  It identifies a person to Apple.  If you want her to be a family member for using the Family Share service, she does need one.

What the iPod shuffle syncs to on her computer is an iTunes library, which is not the same as an Apple ID.  She can sync songs from her iTunes library to the shuffle without any Apple ID.  But if you want her to be able to buy songs herself from the iTunes Store (and have the charge go to your Apple ID through Family Share), then she needs an Apple ID.  Not to use the shuffle, but to buy (and download) from the iTunes Store (and use Family Share).

If she only has songs from physical music CDs and "other" sources (not iTunes Store) in her iTunes library, no Apple ID needed.  If the songs were purchased from the iTunes Store by you, you need an Apple ID, but she does not.
