Gmail stretches off screen

When I check email while using Safari, the Inbox bleeds off the screen to the right.

See screenshot.

As you can see I cannot access settings. I was able to log off remotely through another browser and change Themes but had the same issue. I was not able to deselect Themes however to test whether that might return my Inbox to normal. What should I do to get my Inbox back? I am using OS X 10.11.1 and Safari 9.0.1

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), Safari 7.1.8

Yep I tried that and got this reply from a Gmail forum "expert":

"...try contacting Apple support. And don't let them race you off the phone with "it's a Google problem" since it works fine in Chrome. It would appear to be something related to Safari on that specific computer."
