how can i set up a used iphone 5c without wifi or latest itunes? i want to keep the old iOS on the phone

i just purchased a used iphone 5C from a friend. (No theft! went to her cell provider together to have it unlocked! all above board!)

I do not have wifi at home, but i am on a MacBooKPro 2012, OSX snow leopard 10.8.5 hard-wired with ethernet.

We did a factory reset, but I cannot set up the phone because i do not have the latest itunes (still on 11.3.1). I want the older iOS that her phone was using. How do i do this? It will not go past the "connect phone to itunes" screen.

Any help would be immensely appreciated!!!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no easy way to use an old version of iOS, some features and apps will be incompatible. Worse, you'll miss out on important security fixes that come with each update.

If there is a really important reason to use an old version of iOS, let us know, but I highly recommend plugging your device into iTunes and setting it up with updates installed.
