Q: Keychain Not Keeping Current/Failure to Update Passwords

My passwords are changing faster than Keychain can keep up with them.

In some cases, I am seeing passwords in Keychain for apps back in 2013, even though they've been changed repeatedly years ago. But Keychain is NOT showing the current passwords in many case.

Is there a way to have Keychain update to the latest passwords or do I have to manually add them whenever they need to be changed?

Doesn't Keychain update itself?

What am I doing wrong?

I really don't ant to spend $$$ for a password manager if I don't have to.

But it might be worth it now since passwords have to be changed so often and are becoming so complex.

I'd hope Keychain would be able to keep up with it.

Try running Keychain Access/First Aid and resetting the original keychain.

Reset Keychain, now NONE of the old passewords were apparently saved, and everything has to be manually re-entered. Of course, I don't remember MOST of them. How do I go back to my OLD Keychain? I tried Keychain help, but it doesn't mention where my old Keychain file is, or how to re-activate and use it again?

It's like reset it for 3 new, current updates and at the same time LOSE ALL the others I routinely use daily.

If the old one isn't updating by itself, it would be better for me to just manually re-do them rather than start new with EVERYTHING all over again.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/Keychains. The old keychain should be there. Try double clicking it to launch it.

Clicked it, found a few files including renamed keychain.

Opened it to confirm it was what I needed.

How do I make that my active one again?

Try quitting Keychain Access. Reopen it, then File/Import Items and select the old keychain as the source. If that doesn't work, try File/Add Keychain.

If I "add keychain" does it add onto my default one, or replace it?

Can I import working passwords from the old keychain into the current default?

    Keychain First Aid isn't helping.
