How do I Copy Files from my PC to my iPhone?
iPhone 5, iOS 9.2
iPhone 5, iOS 9.2
Are you wanting the iphone to read these files or just store them? I have two apps, one called Documents and one called Files Pro, that allow me to upload files into their space on the phone. The apps can read various document, audio and video formats. I don't know if they will allow uploading of files they cannot read. There have been apps that would allow iphones to act as storage devices, but I have not used any of them. Also, iphone apps, to my knowledge, can only be loaded via the Apple app store or through the iTunes desktop app unless your phone is jailbroken.
The iPhone can't make use of any of those file extension types. What are you trying to achieve by storing them on your phone?
Hi, Thanks for the replies. I am doing a Self-Study of CEH v8. There's a Chapter on Mobile Platforms. I have the needed Tools on an ISO file. I'd like to put them on my IPhone and do Labs. If I had it Jailbroken how would I transfer the Tools to my phone?
Hi, me again...I talked to Apple and they said I should be able to email the Apps to myself and open them on my phone. I tried a DMG file but it won't open on my phone. They said a DMG file is a Mac OS X Disk Image File. I used Peazip to open it on my PC. I also tried uploading the DMG file to iCloud, but it says it can only upload Files (not Folders.) I did get a few Files on my iPhone using iCloud, but not the entire DMG App. Does anyone know how to get the Programs on my Phone? Thanks
I'm back. Some Success! I created a new folder in iCloud and was able to upload a few of the Apps (including DMG file.) I can download them onto my Phone, but after that it I get a blank screen with the "File's name and it's size in MB." It doesn't execute the Programs. Do I need anything to run them? (Extractor?) I thought they would be in a format that would easily run on my iPhone. Please respond with instructions on how to get my Programs to run. Thanks
You might be able to open .rar and .zip files with appropriate apps, but you won't be able to do anything with .dmg, .exe or .msi files. Those are executable files that are only meant for computers running OS X or Windows.
You might have better luck in the developer forums. I think the file types for iOS are unique to that platform, but I don't know the specifics of how they work.

It sounds to me that you have a program and its accompanying items that you want to upload to your phone. I doubt the iPhone OS has software that will open and mount a disk image (dmg), so that approach won't work. You might be able to open the disk image on your PC and transfer the items it contains to your phone. The issue then will be that iPhones will only run programs that are formatted as iPhone apps. Unless you have a way to load the program this way or some sort of emulator app that can intervene, I think you're still stuck. My two sons both prefer Android phones because they behave much more like regular computers. For security and stability reasons, Apple has chosen the walled garden approach that creates these limitations.
Hi, Thanks for the replies. I'll try the Developer Forum. I'll also try opening (mounting?) the files on my PC (I have Peazip for DMG files) and adding the containing files to my Phone. Also, would I be able to run the EXE files if I had my phone Jailbroken? How would I run the Programs after that? Please respond. Thanks
Hmm... Even with a jailbroken phone, an EXE file would likely need some sort of Windows environment emulator to run on an iPhone. I don't know if this exists as I have only seen emulators that run iOS on Windows, not the other way around.
I think I'm supposed to open the Files on Windows (exe, msi, etc...) and transfer the containing Files to my iPhone. I found a Third-Party Application called CopyTrans that transfers Apps but it only works with .ipa files. Are .app files good?
No - .app files only run on a Mac computer.

If what you're trying to load is a single program that has both an .exe file and an .app file, it is probably set up to be cross-platform so has both Windows and Mac versions. If you're on a PC, you only need the .exe. Unfortunately, neither will run on an iPhone even if you can transfer them. The iPhone OS is too different.
