    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

     

    I understand that you are seeing the arrow indicating that Maps is or was using your location. Do you see this arrow in the menu bar or to the right of Maps in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy pane? 

     

    If you see it in the menu bar, this means the app is currently using your location and if you see it in System Preferences it means that an app requested your location within the last 24 hours. 

     

    Location Services indicator

    If an app is currently using Location Services, an arrow indicator ( ) appears in the menu bar. Click it to see which apps are using Location Services. If an app has requested your location within the last 24 hours, an arrow indicator ( ) appears to the right of the app name in System Preferences.
