Airplay won't turn on

hello, I have a macbook pro (mid-2014). I have recently downloaded the El Capitan and since then I have been having problems with airplay. Before the upgrade I have been using my macbook with an apple tv 2nd generation with no problems but since the upgrade although the airplay mirroring option is shown on the menu, when I try to turn on the airplay display, it only has the off option and won't allow me to turn it on. Is anyone else having the same problem? Any suggestions in what to do?

Just to save everyone's time, that article that Mario49 posted does not address the question.

Airplay is stuck on OFF and you can't turn it on.

That is the question. 200 people also have this question. Would be great if we could get an actual answer and not a RTFM.

As the post mentioned below. AirPlay is stuck OFF. I have an Apply TV 3rd Gen, Mac Book Pro 2014. There was a time when all of this stuff just worked, sadly not anymore and support looks a lot like Microsoft (statements that are technically true but absolutely useless).

I have the same issue. I have tried many corrective actions but nothing seems to correct the error except returning to a previous version of OS X. The problem is in MacOS High Sierra. I have not opened an issue with Apple Support as I have a packet sniffer recording the packets to find if there are network traffic errors. This is very frustrating. All of the requirements are met and I have spent as most of you likely have way more time trouble shooting vs using my expensive tools... Grrr. All responses except the blow off ones quoting mr obvious welcome.... Ha

Hello zac04,

After reviewing your post, It sounds like you are not able to use AirPlay mirroring. It is not letting you turn on AirPlay. I would recommend you read this article, it may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.
