Q: Mail won't open quicktime plugin quits unexpectedly

For a few days, I've been getting a message in Mail that the "Mail Quicktime Plugin has quit unexpectedly."  Today Mail won't open at all: I just get the spinning ball and have to force-quit.  I've read a few threads in the Support Communities and elsewhere but the fixes don't seem to apply.  The only support document I've been able to find refers to an earlier OS (OS 10.8.5 doesn't seem to have the "the ~/Library/Mail/Bundles folder" that the document references).  I can't find a folder that contains the Mail plugins.  I'd appreciate any help.

In Finder, hold down the option/alt key while selecting Go from the Finder menu bar. Select Library. or select Go to Folder and paste in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Select Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.

Re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

You can make your user library permanently visible with the following Terminal Command.

    chflags nohidden ~/Library/

Thank you so much for this advice.  With some guidance from a knowledgeable person, the problem was solved yesterday.  It turned out that I had recently added a QuickTime Plugin for a trial version of an application called MediaReactor.  We tried trashing this plug-in and Mail returned to normal functioning.  I have no idea what this plug-in had to do with Mail (I have a bunch of other QT plug-ins that cause no trouble).  Since it was the most recently added plug-in, I had a hunch that it might be the troublemaker.
