You should prepare yourself for college and graduate school in engineering or computer science. Apple jobs are desirable with lots of job applicants. Apply early and often.
Start by learning all about the User Interface. Learn all about the command line.
An operating system is a large program. It's not as complected as it seems from the outside. Learn about differences between operating systems, especially Linux.
Learning how to write well will pay extra dividends no matter what you end up doing. Unfortunately, many English courses focus on literature analysis which is whether esoteric and not needed. You need writing skills. Take courses on English grammar.

Dec 15, 2015 2:12 PM in response to JackT44by Camelot,At this point, as RC points out, any computer science class will give you the foundation you need to become an application developer which will develop your skills across multiple platforms. From there you can choose to specialize on a particular OS, or on particular areas of computer science, depending on what takes your fancy. If you're in (or approaching) sixth form, I would expect your school has career guidance counsellors that can give you more specific suggestions in your area.
