Q: I cannot update apps because they were purchased under a different name.  I changed names after I got married.  What do I do?

I cannot update apps because they were purchased under a different name.  I have updated my information under my new name, but it still will not work.

    Hi D-Nan,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your post, it sounds like you are trying to update apps on your iPhone, but it is prompting you for an old Apple ID and password. If this is the case, it seems as though you created a new Apple ID opposed to changing the existing one. This would mean you would have purchases and downloads attached to two separate Apple IDs.

To update these apps that were downloaded from the old Apple ID, you would need to enter the password for the old Apple ID when prompted. If you don’t remember the password for the old Apple ID, you can reset it using the instructions in the link below.
