The latest iTunes version is 12.3.2. Please open iTunes, go to iTunes menu -> About iTunes, and tell me what iTunes version you are running. If it's not that version, go to Apple menu -> Software Update (or if you do not see that option, App Store -> Updates), and if it does not show any iTunes update, you will have to upgrade OS X.

The latest iTunes version does not work with Mac OS X 10.6.8, so you have to upgrade to OS X El Capitan (you can download it for free from the Mac App Store). Make sure you make a backup of your files, and remember that old apps (the ones that were made for PowerPC Macs) will not work in OS X El Capitan.

If your Mac is not compatible with OS X El Capitan, you're out of luck.
