Only 3 hours autonomy MacBook Air /2014 / OS X El Capitan

Hi ,

i have a MacBook Air bought in 2014 and It's a 13inch .

few days ago I began to have only 3 or 4 hours maximum autonomy , I only use safari ,mails , and some applications that don't use lot of cpu....

i Don't understand this problem , how can I fix it please ?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Thanks for the answer , but I don't have any application that use a lot of cpu... Even with only safari I have at maximum 4 hours

I’m a novice … what does autonomy mean in this context, and specially maximum autonomy? Further, I am now considering switching from Lion to El Capitan ... should I expect slower speed or other consequences if I upgrade?
