OpenCl 2.1 OS X El Capitan
As a 3D artist I write in support of developers of the world's most advanced realistic render engines. These developers have implemented OpenCl in their render engines in order to take advantage of the graphics processing power of both AMD and Nvidia cards. Unfortunately these render engines will not work on Apple machines no matter what GPU is installed (I have a Mac Pro late 2013 with dual AMD D700 cards).
The problem is caused by broken and outdated OpenCl drivers in OS X (currently 10.11.2). At the time of writing this, OpenCl is at version 2.1 whilst OS X supports only version 1.2 at best and even this is faulty.
After buying the most advanced commercially available desktop in the world (the Late 2013 Mac Pro dual D700) I am bewildered with Apple for not unlocking the machine's true potential for artists and designers by implementing OpenCl 2 functionality in OS X.
This issue is forcing professional creative users to buy windows machines in order to work with high-end render engines, whilst their Apple machines sit idle - looking pretty but doing nothing in the creative pipeline.
Is there any way at all that Apple can address this problem and issue a working OpenCl 2.1 implementation in the next OS X update?
