Q: Mail runs but there is no display.

I have a Macbook Pro running the latest update of El Capitan. I can launch Mail and see the menu banner, but there are no windows displayed. When I send a test email I can see the notification. The number of unread email shows in the dock. How do I fix this?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

It sure sounds like your gmail accounts are all messed up.

What happens if you quit Mail, then press the shift key down while launching Mail from the Dock?

I would also try disabling your current accounts via Mail, Preferences, Accounts (there is a little checkbox you can click) then creating your account from scratch and testing that out.
