Do I need to buy a new wireless keyboard for bluetooth streaming choppiness to stop?

I need to turn off my wireless bluetooth keyboard so that the bluetooth choppiness stops. I tried turning off the trackpad off and on too but the choppiness only stops when i turn off and on my keyboard by holding down the button on the side. Would another keyboard perhaps solve the problem...I don't read about choppy bluetooth streaming in these communities too much. iMac around 2013
