Q: can i stream any videos from mac air to apple tv 4?

i am having trouble streaming from mac air to apple tv, only able to do mirroring from computer .  also having trouble streaming from youtube to tv as well.  So frustrate.  Someone please help

Basic AirPlay streams the original file to the Apple TV for it to decode, this is generally preferential to mirroring because it can be buffered and isn't 'live' as mirroring is. The drawback to this is that the Apple TV needs to be able to decode the files you send it, are you sure they are of a compatible format.
