Q: iOS 9.2 iCloud backup still not fixed!!!

So I've been plagued with the Backup could not be completed problem and I've been waiting for Apple to release a fix and I was happy to see this problem mentioned as one of the bugs dealt with in iOS 9.2, BUT it was not actually fixed!

Now my phone is not backed up at all after all Apple geniuses advised that I delete older backups from iCould and try again, my MacBook storage is too small to carry my 128gb iPhone backup and now if my phone dies for some reason all my life is gone with it, well most of it!

Tried backing up my iPhone to external storage but Apple won't let you do that cause we are freaking slaves and not free to do what we want, so now I hope they would finally listen and address this issue that has been mentioned many times before!!!!

As reported earlier, my problem was no iCloud backups being run on my iPhone 5 and iPad for several weeks.  Today (1-19-2016) I upgraded the iPhone to iOS 9.2.1.  After the upgrade finished, I noticed that a successful iCloud backup completed on both the iPhone and iPad on 1-16-2016.  Have not upgraded the iPad to 9.2.1 yet.  I am not aware of anything I did that would have any impact on restarting of iCloud backups.  I had been waiting for the next iOS release before looking at my problem again.  I found the option for Back Up Now and am not sure if I was looking for it in the right place previously.

    Hi ,

Yesterday the iCloud tool on my Windows gave some notification that it was full.

I deleted the backup via the tool.

Opened my iphone and wanted to do an icloud backup again.

For some reason the iCloud backup is "Off" . If I start it again is says "iCloud backup failed" "There was a problem enabling iCloud backup.

If I enable iCloud backup via iTunes. And then run backup it says "the last backup cannot be completed".

    The things I tried:

    -soft reset

-logout of icloud on iPhone and relogin

    -reset network settings

    Nothing helps...

I have exactly the same issue.  I deleted my iPhone 5s' old iCloud backup, but when I decided to turn iCloud backup on again the iPhone prompts with an error message about enabling iCloud backup.  iCloud backup may be enabled via iTunes, but no manual nor automatic backup can still be done on the iPhone.

I have also tried all the steps you enumerated to try and fix the problem.  But, you guessed it, none of them helped.

I am just gonna subscribe to this thread with the hopes that someone someday can find a solution to my problem.

Same exact issue here, iPhone 6+. Phone says "Last Backup Never". I did a soft reset, turned on and off every single backup setting, changed WIFI networks, logged in and out of iCloud, and then after a week of trying everything, brought the phone to the Apple Store.

The guy there told me he'd never seen anything like it, and has no idea how to fix it. He showed it to 3 other guys, all of whom said the same thing, never seen anything like it.

I came home, wiped the entire phone and started over from an iTunes backup, and again, exact same issue, even with the new OS that came out today. Cannot backup to iCloud, at all.

Same problem for me as well. This has been an issue for me every since updrading to iOS9. It's like apple is trying to bully me into buying more storage by inconveniencing me to death. I have tried everything on this forum, and also contacting apple support through chat. They told me to try and turn my phone on and off. So frustrated...

    I have the same problem.

I have tried all the methods listed on this forum and other webpages. Nothing seems to work. I am now on iOS 9.2.1, with no iCloud backup (deleted it to test if it would work). Been waiting for over two months for a fix for this...

Don't buy more storage, it's not gonna help at all!

I have more than 100 of free storage and still not working!

Apple apparently don't care anymore and this is the last chance before I'm moving to a different platform!

Two iOS updates and still nothing!

I'm flabbergasted that yet after another release there is no fix for this. I feel your frustration!

Luckily my iCloud backup error resolved when I upgraded to a 6S.

I will not be updating my iPhone until we start seeing messages of a fix.

hey, I've been having trouble backing up to iCloud since the new update. It's so frustrating!! I signed-off iCloud, turned off the phone, then tuned it back on, signed back in to iCloud and tried to use iCloud backup and still not luck. Any advice?

After doing a little more research, it appears there are multiple other posts likely having the same problems:

    Can't enable iCloud backup

chichi3 provides some detail on the matter within the above link stating, "Hi everyone, I contacted Apple last night and they are aware of this issue. The technical team are on it and so its is very likely it will be rectified in a software update. Back up to Itunes for now to be on the safe side and keep an eye out for software updates."

Just got off the phone with iOS support and I have great news.

Apparently they have never heard of this issue and it's not actually a problem.

    iCloud is working as intended.

Agreed!: I just updated to 9.2.1 on 1/20/16. Both of my iPads (ipad Air 2 and iPad mini 2) now fail to do an icloud backup. Both have diff apps and configurations..Even reset and erased the Mini and once set up with default, out-of-the-box" settings and logged in to my iCloud account, the backup still fails. Thus, it is not a hardware issue nor a specific setup issue, it is a serious bug which began when ios 9 was instled and now with 9.2.1, seems more issues are popping up. I even reset my Airport extreme, tried a reset of networks and settings plus last resort, tried a different router and network. here. No dice! I'm fully convinced it is an Apple software issue that some ios devices will have. In that both of my iPads failed to backup the same day, I am convinced of this. My Apple iCloud account works fine on everything for sync as well as on my macbook pro and Mac desktop. My iPhone 6s is working fien for backups and over-all for iCloud.. yes, has the 9.2.1 os installed on my iPhone too. Bugs here, no doubt about it!
