Q: Couldn't install Windows 7 on iMac 21.5 mid 2010

I have Windows 7 x64 on my disc. I've downloaded Windows support software for Boot Camp (Version 5.1.2 (497)). Since my iMac model (21.5, mid 2010, yosemite) only supports Windows 7, I tried to install it. But then it says "Need 64-bit Windows 8 installation USB drive or DVD. Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows 8 installation. Please use a USB drive or DVD which contains 64-bit Windows 8."

Anyone guess why this is happening? Thanks.

1. BC v5.1.2 is the BC Assistant version, not the BC Drivers version. BC drivers by Mac Model for Windows 7 can be found at Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support .
2. Download the specific package that you need to a USB flash drive. Switch over to Windows and run setup.exe in Bootcamp folder. You seem to be running BC Assistant which does not install BC drivers on Windows.
