Q: Connect Lenovo LI2821 to iMac (2009)

I'm trying to connect a Lenovo LI2821wA (4k) to a 2009 iMac.

I'd like to just get the native resolution (2560x1440). I'm using a mini to HDMI to the monitor, but the highest resolution it will allow me to display is 1600x900.

Any ideas on how to get higher resolutions to work?

Thanks for the reply. I've read through and attempted all of the help suggestions I could find. I'm not trying to display 4k resolutions, I just want to display 2560x1440 (the resolution the mac specs say the port can output).

Unfortunately I'm not able to get anything higher than 1600x900 right now. I have a USB to HDMI adapter I'm going to try this morning to see if that will allow any other outputs.
