Checking for mail never goes through.

I get the loading circle when I check mail on one email account and it never goes through. It can go hours with nothing and basically freezes the email account. My other account works fine. Re-adding account and resetting phone works for 2 hours before the problem is back again. So far nothing has fixed it permanently. Any ideas on what to do besides resetting my phone every 2 hours?

Greetings nousernamechosen,

It sounds like the Mail app on your iPhone, when checking for one particular account, never completes the check, while other mail accounts work without issue. Is that correct?

I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article - Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Hey nousernamechosen,

If you have not already, I would suggest from the referenced article completing this section -

First steps

Follow these steps first:

  1. To make sure that you're connected to the Internet, open Safari and go to www.apple.com.
  2. Log in to your email provider's website and make sure that the account is active and that you're using the right password.
  3. Check your email settings.
  4. Restart your iOS device.
  5. Remove the affected email account from your device with these steps:
    1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    2. Tap the email account.
    3. Tap Delete Account.
    4. Add your account again.
