How do I add a photo to an existing playlist?

I have tried dragging a .jpg to the playlist cover, but nothing happens. I am sure this is easy, but I seem to be doing it incorrectly. Any advice?

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.


I understand you'd like to add your own custom photo to an iTunes playlist that you've created. In order to get your own photo to be associated with the playlist, you will need to follow through the steps below.


  1. Select the Playlists option in the toolbar as shown in the picture below:
    User uploaded file
  2. Select the playlist you'd like to add the photo to from the list along the left sidebar
  3. Click once on the current image being used for the playlist (it might also just be a gray question mark)
  4. In the drop down menu that appears select "Other"
  5. Navigate to the picture you wish to use for your playlist, select it, and then click "Open"

You will now see your image as the main playlist artwork.
