Q: There is a backlog of old messages in the Apple Watch iMessage notification

How do I get rid of it?

These are messages that I have seen and read tens of times now.

Every time I receive an iMessage notification on the watch it rolls these old messages and shows me the actual new message at the end. I don't want to see all these old messages in the notification.

Can you help me? I couldn't find any Google results for this.

    Hi Pierre

    To clear all notifications at once, press firmly on the screen when viewing the notifications list, then tap on Clear All.

    You can dismiss notifications individually as and when you read them either by:

    - When reading one: scrolling to the bottom of the notification (when reading one) and tapping the Dismiss button, or;

    - When reading one: swiping down on the notification (from the top section, if reading a notification that is longer than one screen), or;

    - In the list view, swiping left on an individual notification, then tapping on Clear.

    Thank you. This does not solve my problem though. Every notification still has this backlog of old notifications.

    When viewing conversations within the Messages app (as opposed to notifications, which are shown in the Notification Centre), to delete a conversation:

    - On your watch, open the Messages app (via the Home screen - which is accessed via a single press of the Digital Crown) > when viewing the conversation list, swipe left on the conversation > tap Delete / Trash.

    The Messages app on Apple Watch works in the same way as the Messages app on iPhone and other devices; you will continue to see the history of each conversation until such time as you delete it. As with all other Apple devices, conversations must also be deleted separately on each device - the app does not sync deletions.

    I have the same problem. But I don't want to delete the conversation with my wife and I still want to get only a notification containing the new message. Right now I always get the same very old message plus the new one on each notification for messages of my wife. Any ideas?

    I also have this question but is there a way to fix it without deleting all the conversations from my Apple Watch?
