How to remove Microsoft Office from Mac Using Parallels

This is not BOOTCAMP it is with PARALLELS:

I have had it with having Microsoft Office on my Mac. My Mac ran beautifully hardly ever saw the albeit colorful, spinning wheel of death!! Now that wheel is spinning all the time (most of the time its trying to determine what program to use to open something-e.g; I want Pages, it struggles to see if I want Word).

I have to have Parallels in order to run our companies software.

So heres what I did. My dd from college received free Microsoft Windows Office 16 (Word, Publishers, One Note, Excel, One Drive, Access, Power Point, Outlook, etc) a complete pkg. What I ended up with was in "Launchpad" I saw 2 of everything 1 set for my Mac and 1 set on Parallels in windows. I removed the Mac set. And still have the Parallels/Windows set. But I want all of it gone and my Mac back before it ever had yucky Windows on it. (No offense to anyone who loves windows 🙂)

I do know I can just go into Parallels/Windows/Control panel and remove/uninstall programs, (I used to be a windows only user 2 years ago till I switched!) I want to make sure I remove it ALL, and just in case that is just the first step to remove and there are hidden files or need to in a specific order I am familiar with this happening ..So I am asking for expert advice here.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

Oh and Merry Christmas!

Well, Templeton Peck...

"Why?"

Because...I am removing it from my Mac...Because My Mac is having issues....Because my Mac not Parallels or Office (not Apple products) is showing the color wheel of death now...Because I still see them on my Mac...Because I know there are hidden files/unseen files on the Mac, where Microsoft files could be, but don't know where...Because I am calling those that help.. "experts"...because this IS a technical issue with an Apple product!!! Besides, someone nice here could have seen my issues, and happen to be running Office on their Mac (as many Mac owners do) and might know of a link, or advice, etc.

Even though you said "any suggestions would be very appreciated" it appears that the best suggestion, ask on a Microsoft forum was not appreciated. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us?auth=1

But to answer your question you remove Office in Parallels the same way you remove Office on a PC.

I've re-read your original post, and it's clear you don't know what you're talking about.

You say you want to remove Office from your Mac, yet you talk about removing it from within parallels -> Windows, which makes no sense. Why and how would removing Office from your Mac be done from within an installation of Windows that's on your Mac?

Now if you want help making sure Office is fully removed from your Mac, there's no point in posting here as instructions an easily be found by doing a simple 5-second Google search: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+uninstall+Office+Mac

If you want your Mac back to how it was before you installed "yucky" windows on it, then just uninstall Parallels and delete the Windows drive image. For help with that post on the Parallels forums since it's their software. http://forums.parallels.com

  1. In Windows running under Parallels, click on the Start button, then on Control Panel.
  2. Choose Programs, then Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click on Microsoft Office and choose Uninstall.

While left-behind files were common a few years ago, Windows installers have gotten much better about doing a thorough cleaning job. They do tend to leave behind some configuration files, in case you decide to reinstall later, but nothing that affects the operation of your computer. You can get instructions on a complete uninstall by Googling completely uninstall Microsoft Office 20XX, where XX is the version you have.
