how do I convert an .xlsx spreadsheet to a txt(tab delimited) format

I exported my contact list from Bento to an .xlsx spreadsheet in Numbers 3.6.1

In order to import this spreadsheet into SendOutCards, they require that it be saved as a txt (tab delimited) document.

How do I do this with Numbers 3.6.1?

If you are sure you need tab-delimited (as opposed to comma-separated) then the easiest way may be this:

  1. With Numbers open, select all the cells in the table you wish to export.
  2. Command-c to copy the values to the clipboard.
  3. Open TextEdit and in TextEdit Preferences make sure Format is set to 'Plain Text'.
  4. Click in a new TextEdit document and command-v to paste.
  5. Save the TextEdit document with the extension that SendOutCards requires.
