After the El Capitan update on my iMac, my Canon MX700 printer doesn't work. UGH!!!!
Mine stopped working on Yosemite. Do you have an older Mac OS X installed that you can test it on? Can you run the test page from the printer itself? I get error messages just trying to run the printer, and I finally got Canon to agree to sell me an MX922 at a discount.
My printer was working perfectly until I downloaded and installed OS X El Capitan. The printer works perfectly on my husband's computer which runs on OS X Yosemite.
Since you upgraded to El Capitan then I would recommend you remove the MX700 from Printers & Scanners and then open Finder and select from the menubar, Go > Go to Folder. Then copy the following line and paste into the Go field and press Go
/Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter
Now you can select all of the present folders and trash them. Next, restart the Mac and after you log in, download and install this MX700 driver. Once the driver installation has completed, open Printers & Scanners and add the MX700. Now see if you can print.
You are a MIRACLE WORKER!! Thank you so much!!
Hi Pahu
I just upgraded to El Capitan today and also have a Canon MX700. Just another vote for you as Miracle Worker....Thank you!
Thank you so much for this solution!!! I am now able to continue using my perfectly fine MX700 printer!!!
It's 4am and you just saved my bacon. May the god of your choosing bless you in ridiculous amounts of fortune for helping strangers; us poor souls deserted by Canon.
