Q: Trying to set up Family Share w/o erasing iPad

Sharing an ID for as long as iTunes has been around finally is just too confusing.  I want my messages and my partner wants hers.    She has an iPad that I just switched over to her brand new Apple ID this afternoon.  I have her logged into the Cloud and iTunes and she is the other adult on the Family group.  I also switched everything on her Touch.

On her Touch, she can sign into FaceTime and iMessage.  But on her iPad, we keep getting the message that it can't be verified, try again.  I have double checked that I am signed out of everything on her iPad.  About the only thing I can think of is to erase the doggone thing and start over as if it was new.  I don't understand why she can sign into Face Time and iMessage on the Touch, but not on the iPod.

The original Apple ID stayed with me--and I'm the "organizer" of the Family.

Also--when she goes into the iTunes store to buy something, she doesn't see the balance of the iTunes cards we have.  Is that only seen on mine?

Thanks for the help--
