Q: tried to send email message the email being sent just keeps flashing on and off.

just tried to send email and the outgoing message seems to be in a repeat mode where it just keeps flashing on the screen and the only way to stop it is to quit email

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

What does Mail/Window/Connection Doctor Show? If the server is red, select it and look at the Show Details box.
