Q: Not Receiving Push Notifications Or Alerts For 3rd Party App On iPhone 5s

I am receiving some push notifications sometimes, for some apps but not others. Sometimes I am even lucky enough that they include a sound and not just a pop-up alert. But the real problem comes with a 3rd-party app I had created that is supposed to send me push alerts with a custom tone when customers send a text message to the app.

The programmers who created the app have sent me video screenshots of them sending a text message from one iphone and receiving it on another iphone with a push notification sound and a pop-up alert. On my phone, however, I receive nothing. And unlike the programmers, I even need to refresh the app to see that a new text has arrived. They cannot explain it (nor can they fix it) and I think they are beginning to think I'm nuts because they've basically insisted that the problem is on my end. All of my settings, however, are correct and I've checked and re-checked them many times.

This issue has been going on for about a year. The programmers are pulling their hair out and no one from Apple seems to be taking this seriously. I am using an iPhone 5s with the latest operating system (9 or 9.1 I don't remember) and purchased it because I knew that the 5s would accommodate push notifications from a 3rd party app (one that I also paid several hundred dollars for, incidentally, based on Apple's advertised iPhone features.). I was using an iPhone 4s prior to this and the notifications would still not work, whereas they did work on the programmer's 4s at the time. This is the main reason I upgraded to the 5s. I was told that, unlike the 4s, it would allow the notifications from the 3rd party app. But it does not.

When I pay several hundred dollars for a phone, it needs to work properly and needs to function according to the features that enticed me to buy it in the first place. Apple needs to take this issue seriously and get it fixed and if anyone has any suggestions, I'm happy to listen.

    Hello Paxeon,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that for about the past year you have not receiving notifications for your app. I understand the frustration that this is causing. Given that it has been going on for about I year, while you don't specify what kind of troubleshooting has been done, I presume that you have tried a number of things to resolve this. With that in mind, I have some suggestions for you. The first couple you may have already tried, but I am including them in case they have been overlooked.

First, I would try a forced restart of the iPhone, Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Next, Delete and reinstall the app,

    Delete and reinstall the app

Tap and hold the app until it jiggles.
Tap the "X"  on the app.

    Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.

From this article: If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

If it still isn't working, you can erase and restore your iPhone. If you have to go this route, I would first restore as new and then install only the app you are having issues with and see if it is working.

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

    Best regards.
