El Capitan: macbook pro encryption self started after update to iTunes on 12/11/16. After update restart computer opened to grey screen requesting if I wanted to use ICloud password or Log-on password. I don't want/need encryption do I?

After updating iTunes on 12/11/16 my computer restarted in "grey screen" and required a password for encryption. It then encrypted my MacBook Pro (10.11.2) Additionally, the iTunes update has "lost" my Playlists and 90% of my purchases. Apple Care Level 2 couldn't find them! They show up in my account but not in my iTunes.

1. Do I need the fully encrypted computer? If not how can I un-encrypt?

2. How can I get my old, fully organized iTunes back?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

File Vault encryption is a security feature. Olny you know if you want/need it. I do not use it.

To remove see that topic of

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

It appears a glitch occurred. That happens some times. If you have a backup yo can restore from backup

Thanks Illaass. I will work on un-encrypting but I'm an curious as to why an update to iTunes put it in recovery mode and required encryption in the first place? I was unable to NOT encrypt.

As to the issue of back-up to iTunes the Apple advisor had me 'recover' an old iTunes library which has removed newer purchases and still doesn't load the purchases. Now it only shows 22 songs out of 404 purchases even though the rest of the library appears to be there. (5,000 plus songs).
