Airplay Freeze Issues (iPhone 6s AppleTV 2)

I have had this ongoing problem for a while.

When I play music to my AppleTV my iPhone will lock up and the music stops. This usually happens after three to five songs, but occasionally the first song I play. On a "good day" all I have to do to get the music playing again is to change Airplay back to iPhone and then back to AppleTV and the song resumes. Occasionally it will restart the song. Occasionally it will actually play a different song than the one listed as being played! All other apps work fine.

I can usually do the "swap the output" routine two or three times with no trouble but then it seems to reach a "point of incalcitrance" and the iPhone either ignores the swap or locks up altogether and has to be powered off and restarted to resume playing. (Today it froze again after the reboot trick trying to play one song).

I am tired of this behavior. How do I make the iPhone "work properly"?

iPhone 6s 128GB (slightly over half full).

I understand that you are seeing some inconsistent behavior with AirPlay and would like some information on troubleshooting this further. Here is an article with some suggestions for you to try that will help you narrow down the cause of the issue:

If your content gets interrupted or your network lags

If you have a weak Wi-Fi signal or interference from a nearby device, like a microwave or baby monitor, try these steps:

Make sure that you're using the recommended settings for your Wi-Fi router.

Move or turn off other devices that might cause interference.

If possible, connect your Apple TV directly to your router with an Ethernet cable instead of using Wi-Fi.

Your AirPlay connection might get interrupted when you lock your device, put it to sleep, or switch to a different app.

I Am aware of these recommendations and applied all of he suggestions to no avail. The problem persists

Wound up buying an AppleTV4. This problem is sort of solved, but new problems have arisen. Thanks Apple.
