Can someome read my text message on my ipad3 mini, without having to login first with my password? I know my messages dont sit on my screen as they use to before. But can someone open my text messages app, without first login w/ my password?

They can read your text messages if the app is turned on and you are signed in. If you sign out of messages, they would have to sign in with your Apple ID and password in order to turn messages on again.
Thank you! I can't remember if I had signed out of messages. I know I had not logged into my ipad and messages or my text messages for many days, and I forgot my ipad somewhere and I believe someone got into my text messages. So, if the app is open and someome gets your device they can just click on the app and read your texts without have to actually login in w the password, even after your device has been inactive for a couple of days. So, as long as the app still be open even if the device is locked they can still read your texts??

IF the device is locked with a passcode, they would not be able to do anything unless they knew the passcode and could unlock it. If the device is unlocked and you didn't sign out of messages, yes they can read your texts. Even if the app isn't open when they pick up the device, they could launch the app and read you messages.
