Q: partition missing

Hello wonder if anyone can help, try to make it brief and easy to read

Recently purchased a Macbook pro, wanted windows 10 so followed the guides online to do so. Got to the phase where it prompts you to format the appropriate drive to continue and this is where i messed up. I quit the process assuming I should of formatted the usb drive prior to this step... however after doing this, I lost the storage space due to the partition i.e. I allocated 125gb for windows out of the 400gb odd i had remaining but when i closed down the installation it i still had 125gb missing as there was only 275 free out of 300 max... I tried to fix it on my own and done more damage than good I think as i now can't open up bootcamp as it is saying it has to be formatted to one dis (journal)... i did not have a time capsule backup thing so now i want to know if restoring to factory default would be a wise option... had the macbook pro for 2/3 days nothing on it except music so far.

Furthermore i tried to be crafty and do another partition to try and get to the installation window again so i could see and delete the old and larger partition i made... which is why I'm thinking its better to just rip everything off and save me of repeating or making new mistakes

If theres a better option and/or this option won't work anyway I'm all ears for some help.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this =)

Let us try the Terminal commands first. If we run into any issues, you can look at Option B.

    A. The following eraseVolume commands coalesce disk0s4 and disk0s5 into Free Space. They will return an error, because disk0s4 and disk0s5 will not exist after the erase.

    diskutil eraseVolume free FREE disk0s4

    diskutil eraseVolume free FREE disk0s5

Post the output of sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0 to confirm that you do not have any partitions that will interfere with BC Assistant.

    B. Use TM to erase/restore...

    1. Backup OSX and all your files - Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

    2. Boot into Internet Recovery (Command+Opt+R) - OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support .

    3. Click on Utilties -> Disk Utility and Erase your internal whole disk.

    4. Restore OSX and your files - Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

This requires a separate external disk which can accommodate TM backup - Backup disks you can use with Time Machine - Apple Support .

This is strange. disk0s4 and disk0s5 are still intact. Can you reboot and check?

Your free disk space being after Recovery HD disallows you to see the space in the OSX volume. You have FileVault2 enabled.  We can do either a CS revert/mergePartitions after FV2 is disabled, or use Option B to get your disk space. You get to decide which path we pursue.

Let us do the FV2 and CS route. Turn off FV2 - OS X El Capitan: FileVault pane of Security & Privacy preferences . It can take some time and check the output of diskutil cs list to confirm that it is in progress/has completed.

    Try and run

    diskutil cs revert disk1

Sometimes the FV2 process continues in the background.
