Siri not responding after iOS 9.2 update, any suggestions?

After updating to iOS 9.2, siri will not make calls, work with iTunes, text, or set alarm, but she will get sports scores and get the weather. Any suggestions on how to solve. I rebooted in airplane mode and turn siri off, i reset phone, and went to the genius bar. Obvious it is an software issue, just wondering if there is any other suggestions?

Thanks

I stand corrected. As others have experienced, power cycling the phone just fixes it for a short limited time right after the reboot.

So, I followed FelipeV's advice and bit the bullet. Since restoring it appears work normally. Btw. 9.2.1 PB here (burt the issue first occurred on the 9.2 final).

Be aware that since the introduction of app slicing your apps won't be backed up to iTunes, but re-download after restore.

Try the technique I used above. It appears to be working so far... I modified it slightly:

  • Back up!
  • Downgrade to 9.1
    • Find the official OS 9.1 IPSW download links)
    • I don't restore here, just set up the phone as a new phone.
  • Turn off siri/dictation

Or, rather never activate it when you're setting up the phone)

  • Install 9.2

I upgraded as a software update via the phone

  • Turn Siri on.
  • Restore from backup.

Having the same problem. To state my issue clearly: Siri is completely non-functional on my iPhone 5s after 9.2 update. Face time videos and voice notes I recorded after the update have good clear audio so the microphone is working. This proves hardware is okay. Issue has to be software. I have tried all measures noted above except restore as new phone and downgrade to 9.1. I'd try restore as new but have no reason to believe that will work. I think the issue is the update. It clearly broke something. How do I downgrade to 9.1?

Your issue appears to be different than what is experienced in this thread. For example, before my issue was corrected, I was able to get Siri to accept my commands and would be fine with Internet searches. As soon as the function required interface with another app is where we ran into trouble. For example, I could have Siri understand that I wanted to play "Pink Floyd", but it would try but not succeed engaging Apple Music for that purpose.

To to downgrade you need a computer with iTunes and your phone connected to it. You need to find a reputable site that link to Apple servers that maintain the ipsw files for iOS 9.1 for your specific phone. You then need to download that file to your computer. Connect your phone to your computer and back up your phone. Once you have done that click [option] Restore in iTunes on your phone tab. That opens the finder and locate the downloaded ipsw file. On a pc, I think it's [shift] Restore. I would then set up the phone as a new phone while in 9.1 but don't activate Siri. Once that is set up, got to settings and update the software to 9.2. Once that is done then you can connect to iTunes where it will give you an option to restore your back up. Good luck.
