Q: iBooks store button does not function. Cannot permanently remove parental disable in preferences

While the button for the store is available, clicking it does nothing. Also noticed that no matter how many times I deselect "disable the iBooks store" in the parental preferences, it is selected again up reopening the app. Tried deleting the any iBooks .plist files in the user library without any help. Any ideas are appreciated.

OK, so the reason the iBooks Store is not doing anything is because you have the Disable iBooks Store turned on in Parental Restrictions. The button will display, but it won't do anything if the Store is disabled.

So, let's discuss the issue with turning off the disable option for the iBooks Store. Are you disabling the iBooks Store on another User account or on your own? What steps are you taking, exactly, and what happens as you take each step?

    Thank you for helping, Gail.

I have no idea why the iBooks Store is disabled. I unselect it and then it appears disabled again when I reopen the app. When I have it still open and the disabled select box is unchecked, the store button still does not function. I only have one account. I then tried changing the password preference setting to allow me to verify that it is my account that I am logging into.

The one recurring problem, perhaps, is that I cannot deselect "disable" iBooks Store, apparently. I verified that there are no parental controls enabled for any user in the Control Panel Parental Controls app. Tried enabling them and then disabling them. No change in the iBook preferences problem. It always defaults to iBooks Store Disabled.

Where is it that you are seeing that the iBooks Store is disabled? I was thinking that you were seeing this in the Parental Controls, but you have indicated that they are not enabled, so not sure where you are seeing the "disabled" setting?

    Thanks, again.

The "iBooks Store Disabled" is appearing in the iBooks Preferences Parental panel.  It is selected there. I am able to deselect it so that the checkbox is empty. But when the iBooks app is then closed and reopened, it is selected. (I have tried accessing the Bookstore after unselecting "disabled" and before exiting the app, but the bookstore button remains unresponsive.
