Repeated restart after sleep

My Mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro (retrofitted with a SSD 18 months ago) has begun to:

1) Go into a re-start mode frequently when I endeavour to wake the machine from Sleep.

2) I get the usual notification on a grey screen that the computer was restarted because of a problem followed by the need to insert my password,

3) I then the interminable wait for the horizontal progress of the black bar, followed by

4) A blue screen requiring my password again and finally

5) What seems like an extraordinary delay (1-2mins) to finally come to life with an operable desktop window.

Anyone any thoughts please?

Hi Paul,

Given your description where your computer is restarting, along with a message stating it has restarted due to a problem, then it looks like your Mac is experiencing a kernel panic. I suggest that you take a look at the information and troubleshooting in the link below.

OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."

Take care.
