Display mirroring gone

Prior to OS update 10.11.2 el Capitan on my Macbook Pro I had the ability to use and external monitor for easier viewing. Evidently the Airplay part of the OS is gone, also meaning no devices such as iPhones and iPads have the Airplay feature either. Does anyone else have this issue. Apparently Apple is moving forward with Apple TV versus airplay in a different way, but left us hanging. Another possible problem from this as I have read is that users with Airplay speakers may no longer be able to use them??

Hello Richard,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are not able to view your MacBook Pro screen on your TV using AirPlay Mirroring and your Apple TV. This feature set has not been removed from the OS, is is possible that one or more of the settings was damaged during the update to your OS. Take a look at the following two articles for information on setting up and troubleshooting AirPlay and Mirroring.

OS X El Capitan: Use AirPlay to see your desktop on an HDTV

Use AirPlay to display video from your Mac on an HDTV
