    Hi,

How did you try to upgrade and what went wrong?

Check out this Apple article. Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

    Hi,

It is now a year at least since I tried to upgrade to El Capitan. I can't do it. 3 Apple technicians couldn't do it on the phone with me either so there's NO chance I'm going to do this on my own.

    I'm running  OS X 10.9.5 (13F1911) on a 27" iMac.

I do not know what to do, I've been talked through clean installs and everything that the Apple guys tried and they said they would get back to me but they never did. It sounds as if they just want to wash their hands of it.

    Can anyone help?

..Forgot to say..On the El Capitan page the last time I tried to install, it is now on 'pause' and it says .'waiting'  it hasn't moved from that for hours and I can not get it off that...even when I close down and reboot.
