Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

For the avoidance of doubt, it's not a conflict on the wifi connection the Apple TV uses to connect to your wifi network, but to the bluetooth connection between the Apple TV and the remote.
