Q: Any way to search or index NAS with El Capitan?

iMac: Mid 2011, 21.5' iMac, 2.5 Ghz i5, 500 GB HD, 16GB 1333 DDR3 Ram, AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB Graphics, Samsung monitor plugged in Thunderbolt port.
OS: 10.11.2  El Capitan

NAS: Synology DS415+

Our company just purchased and has set up a Synology NAS 2 weeks ago and we are able to store files to it and access them without any problems. We also have a few Mac's backed up to it with Time Machine and it works GREAT! One of our iMac's on 10.6 can search the NAS like it is another normal computer but on my iMac and another one on 10.10, no results show up. I have tried to re-index the shared folder and drive per Apple's instructions(Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes - Apple Support) but it doesn't seem to work. I also tried enabling indexing with terminal (https://jonathansblog.co.uk/how-to-enable-spotlight-indexing-on-a-network-drive) and this didn't work either. Is there another setting I need to enable or option I need to check? Thanks for any help!
