Issue with Photos App - error message The application built with PhotoLibraryPrivate version 215.65.00 but is running with version 209.52.00

Hello, hoping someone can help with my sluggish MacBook Pro.

I am running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3 and have tried to update to El Capitan 10.10.5 on a Macbook Pro 13inc Mid 2012. It has said it has already downloaded twice but when I open up the software it is still sitting at 10.10.3 with no changes, the download seems to be taking a long time - already been sitting for about 6 hours.

I am now trying to open the photos app but get the following error coming up - The application built with PhotoLibraryPrivate version 215.65.00 but is running with version 209.52.00.

Any advice on what the options are to get my photos app running again! Have tried various time machine backups and computer not liking this either 😟

Upgrade to El Captain OS X 10.11.2 which includes Photo 1.3

I have no idea what you are seeing about "El Capitan 10.10.5" as far as I know that does not exiat

What are you trying to do? Updating to the last Yosemite Version 10.10.5 or or upgrading to El Capitan, MacOS X 10.11.2?

If the update from the Mac App Store fails to install properly, I would try to reinstall instead of updating. If a failed update should have messed up the system, it is safer to reinstall. You can install on top of your current system. There is no need to wipe the drive and to start over with a clean install.

Make a current backup of your Mac, then boot into the Recovery HD, as described here: OS X: About OS X Recovery

Select to reinstall your MacOS, and when done, open the AppStore to install the update or upgrade you want.

If you can, use a wired network connection instead of Wi-Fi.
