Q: not able to print from a sharp mxm264n

hello,

I am not able to print from a sharp MXM264N printer connected to my macbook pro with OS yosemite 10.10.1. Error msg shows "Optical Photoconductor needs to be replaced".

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

    If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

    For the Mac to be displaying this message, the copier must be sending a warning that the drum (aka optical photoconductor) needs to be replaced. While this same message may not be appearing on the LCD panel of the copier as it could just be a warning rather than an error, it is still a case of the driver getting this information on the Mac and thus showing the message.

     

    One workaround is to use an alternate driver. The specs for your model show that Postscript is an option. If this is installed then you could open Printers & Scanner and add a new printer but select the Generic Postscript driver included with OS X. If the Sharp does not have the optional Postscript kit, then you can use the Generic PCL Driver included with OS X.
