OK, so rarely have I not been able to find a solution by Googling. This one has me beat. I can't believe I'm alone in this situation.
I have the new app based Apple TV released in 2015.
About a month into using it, about 2 minutes after I reach the app screen/home page, a message comes up on screen overlaid on the home screen below.
"A new software update is available. Would you like to update now?"
You know, I mutter to the TV, I really would, but you won't let me!
"Update now" is pre selected and "Update later" is not selected. When I click on the touch remote, whatever app I was on within the home page opens. Although you can bearly see this as the update screen is overlaid on top.
It doesn't matter what button I press, nothing moves on the update screen, only behind on the home screen.
The only way to get rid of this is to shut down and reopen Apple TV. Then it seems to forget the update for the rest of the evening.
Things I've tried:
- Going into 'software update' in settings (up to date according to that)
- Every button on the remote
- Asking Siri to do it
- Apple remote on iPhone
- Restoring Apple TV (which it apparently has installed the latest software)
- Erasing everything and going back to factory settings
Nothing works!!!!!!!!!!! It always comes back.
