Home Folder

Brand new Macbook Air I had trouble connecting to my wireless so with a call to Apple we got it going. Skipped setting it up with iCloud on and went ahead, then connected. As a result, I have a Home folder that is disorganized and another folder that has my folders in it but says I don't have permissions. How do I get permissions because using Command i, I can not change them. I know I have seen this before but can't remember what to do. Thanks.

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Yes, that happens when you don't use migration assistant. Try this first...

OS X Yosemite: Delete a user

If that does't work, launch Terminal and copy & paste this command at the flashing cursor.

sudo /usr/bin/dscl . -delete /Users/old user name"

Press Return.

The other thing you could do since it's brand new is to wipe the disk, do a factory fresh install of the OS and use Migration Manager.

If you still have your old Mac you could also use Target Disk Mode to move the files and delete the account.
