Q: macbook pro inbuilt NIC Vs gigabitethernet adapter for higher downloading bandwith?

Hiii im using a apple macbook pro 17 late 2011 version. running on OSX El capitat 10.11.2. and my problem is when i download using ethernet internet connection(wired) the badwith is comparitively lower than other HP,dell computers. (i was connected to a common LAN) im using the macbookpro built in broadcom 57765-B0 ethernet NIC. would it help if i use a thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter to download stuff?? i just want to get a higher download bandwith comparitively?

    Hi,

     

    First try this...

     

    System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.

     

    The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

     

    Also might try turning off IPv6: for Ethernet.
