How can I disable the Smart Suggestions (calendar and contacts) on Mail app?

Hello everyone,

I want to know if is it possible to disable the Smart Suggestions on Mail App on El Capitan? I don't want to see the suggestion to add some event to calendar when I receive an email with a date or hour inside.

Thank you veyr much for your valuable help

Best regards

Roger

Hello babowa,

First of all, thank you very much for your response.

Yes, I did check that in Mail > Preferences > General is selected "never" in 'add invitations to calendar'; and even I did check on Calendar App that on Calendar > Preferences > General is not selected the option "Show the Events Found in Mail calendar"; but even with this, when I receive an email with a date or hour inside appear the little bar showing the suggestion to add the event to the calendar. I'm starting to think this little suggestion bar can not be disable.

Best regards

Roger

Ok, one more place to check: System Preferences > Notifications.

You can disable any/all apps listed there by choosing 'none' in right column and UNchecking every option underneath. I'd start with Calendar and Reminders; you can add Mail if the first two don't do it. Personally, I abhor intrusions, so I have absolutely nothing active in Notifications Center - I will check if/when *I* want to check.

Interesting; I have not seen that on my El Capitan MBP (but then I've never even opened Calendar so that may have something to do with it). There is one other "new feature" I submitted a bug report for: they also added the "can't be turned off" feature of automatically fetching new emails even though I have it set to only do it manually. Never mind a user may not want that feature (or: why would the option of checking it manually still be available?). Reminder to myself: haven't checked that with the latest update to see if anything has changed or not as I rarely use Mail on that MBP.

Maybe this can be useful for your case documentation: on my MBP, when I did the update to 10.11 and 10.11.1, Apple Mail automatically fetch new emails but not as I want (I had to close Mail several times to "force" the fetch, even the button to obtain new emails didn't work) (I'm using an Exchange 365 account from my work). But with 10.11.2 this problem was solved. As usual some updates solve some little issues for some and add new headaches for others.
