Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the picture of the Time Capsule
In the smaller window that appears, look for a setting named Status
What is the message next to Status?

Dec 17, 2015 4:07 PM in response to Bob Timmonsby mikey500,My passport is hooked to my MAC via USB cable. The ICON of my passport normally is green saying everything ok and when it is updating it turns yellow. Since I loaded OS X Capiton it when yellow. I downloaded the utility for my WD My Passport 2TB and everything is working correctly and I can tell it is backing up, but the ICON no longer goes green.

Your first question asked about a Time Capsule. We asked you to check the Status of the Time Capsule, but we did not get an answer on that request.

Dec 17, 2015 5:48 PM in response to mikey500by Bob Timmons,I'm sorry, but you still have me totally confused.
And I should of said time machine not capsule!
So, instead of......Time capsule won't turn green......your post should have read......Time Machine won't turn green?
Unfortunately, Time Machine is software.
Maybe if you could start all over again and ask your question using the correct terms and things you meant to say, we might be able to help.

I can't claim to understand the issue you're describing any better than the previous respondent, but wonder if it's the WD My Passport desktop icon anomaly discussed here.
If so, you might try the simple solution offered in the posting toward the bottom of that thread.
