Screen/File Sharing - VNC address shows kindle not IP address

When attempting to enable the Screen Sharing and File Sharing services from within the System Preference the messages are as below:

Other users can access your computer's screen at vnc://kindle.home/ or by looking for “NAME-MBP-003” in the Finder sidebar.

Other users can access shared folders on this computer, and administrators all volumes, at “afp://kindle.home” or “smb://kindle.home”.

I do have the kindle app installed outdent understand why the VNC and file sharing shares should be named KINDLE.

I have just rebuilt the MBP due to software errors, including this one, and it seems to have come back again... any ideas if this is normal and if not how to fix it ???

Thanks for the responses.

I have looked into the suggestions and checked settings against the posts - nothing on my system looked particularly wrong in comparison.

Just as something to try I disabled the wifi connection and used the wired connection... the kindle.home reference was replaced with a more proper looking reference (the computer name)... when wifi was re-enabled and the wired connection unplugged the kindle reference returned.

I don't know if the following is an 'actual' solution but it seemed to sort the problem for me... as I use the BT Home Hub 5, which has some peculiarities, and oddities, I poked around in the router config.

Previously I have given 'names' to the MAC addresses that have logged onto the router, I removed the entry for the Kindle and repeated the test with the wired ethernet connection switching back to wifi.... hey presto... the name did not change to kindle, it remained at the computer name.

The solution is a little weird but hey... its ok now so am not going to ask any more than that.

I have a link for you to try out. You will need to go into system preferences sharing and check computer settings. https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18686?locale=en_US See whats set in there. You may have to do a restart if you have to change anything. In the mean time I'm still looking. Kindle uses VNC for screen sharing. I also found that by turning off screen sharing, that will go away.

I have also found that if you uncheck screen sharing in preferences -sharing that will go away. the kindle app you installed sets the kindle for screen sharing on VNC. VNC come on automatically when screen sharing is checked. To use other than kindle you go to the go in the finder menu, top of your desktop/connect to server/ inter IP or browse. If there is a setting in the kindle app, I do not know. Can find nothing on it.
